Trust Whitney Houston’s family to be under the microscope after her sudden and numbing demise. They must get used to it that everything and everyone connected with them now will be subjected to the minutest scrutiny and their privacy will be invaded.
Already it is reported that memorabilia owners are out making a fast buck, auctioning everything from autographs, to photographs, to apparel and other nick-knacks. How many will be the genuine article and how many fake; only time will tell.
What is more worrying however is that every move that the superstar’s family makes henceforth will now be seen with hawk-eyes by the media? When, Bobbi Kristina disappeared for a few hours after her mother’s funeral, it was not seen as a daughter’s natural emotion to get away from it all and spend some recuperating time alone, but that she went to a hotel and was doing drugs.
The 18-year-old’s grandmother, Cissy Houston, has vehemently refuted the reports and dismissed apprehensions that Whitney Houston’s only child may be facing drug addiction problems. A family spokesman, said, “Bobbi Kristina isn’t on drugs, but as an 18 year old, who had just lost her mother under tragic circumstances, she was vulnerable and emotionally fragile and needed some time alone. She is going through a very hard time as you can expect.”
However, insiders argue that since both her parents, Whitney and Bobby Brown had a history of drug abuse and she too had a brief rehabilitation stint last year, it is quite likely that she may have become a victim of circumstances.
Although it cannot be denied that Bobbi Kristina has brought this media attention on herself, and is under a microscope because of her sudden disappearance after the funeral, she has to endure a lot of things and we shouldn’t be subjecting her to more. In the wake of such a tragedy, that has left the family shattered, the sudden increase of imprudent, reckless media attention is somewhat cruel and the family should be left to grieve in peace.
Moreover, given her genetic lineage, Bobbi Kristina, she has inherited considerable musical talent – it would be a pity if media scrutiny nipped the talent in the bud.
