On Sunday, the only child of Whitney Houston decided to discuss the past couple of weeks with Oprah Winfrey. Bobbi Kristina Brown told Oprah that she is still able to hear Whitney’s voice and feel her spirit. Bobbi says that Whitney urges her to ‘keep moving.’
“She’s always with me. I can always feel her,” Brown said to Oprah on OWN.
During the same show, Oprah also spoke to Whitney’s brother Gary and his wife Patricia. Houston passed away on February 11 in a hotel room at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.
Houston was awarded six Grammys during her career and sold over 170 million albums, singles and videos throughout her career. Her accomplishments have recently been overshadowed by her issues with drug addiction though. Patricia Houston, Whitney’s sister-in-law, said that ‘the handwriting was kind of on the wall,’ when asked if she feared drugs would take Whitney’s life at some point.
Patricia also said that Houston was recently “chasing a dream, looking for love in all the wrong places.”
From 1992 to 2007, Houston was married to Bobby Brown, with Bobbi Kristina being born in 1993.
“I’m her daughter. I gotta keep moving. I gotta carry on her legacy. … I still have a voice,” Brown said on Winfrey’s show. “I’m getting through it. I’m doing as good as I possibly can. Just trying to keep going.”
Authorities are hoping to speak with Bobbi Kristina before closing the investigation into Whitney’s death but it is not known if Bobbi Kristina will grant interviews with investigators. Beverly Hills police officers talked with her the day Whitney died but she had been too upset to provide officers with any pertinent information. Twice she was transported to a hospital in Los Angeles following her mother’s passing.
The final ruling into the cause of death could be released by March 23. The coroner’s office in Los Angeles County said that there were no signs of foul play. Whitney’s unconscious body was found in the bathtub of her hotel room, which led to authorities being called to the hotel. She was scheduled to attend a party for the Grammys only hours later that day.
Ed Winter, the Assistant Chief Coroner, said that there were not that many prescription bottles found in her room during the investigation.
“I know there are reports that she maybe was drowned or did she overdose, but we won’t make a final determination until all the tests are in,” he said.
