I know some people who are always looking for ways to get out of paying a food or drink tap at the end of the night. I do not recommend skipping out on a tab because in today’s high-tech world it is almost a guarantee that you will be caught. The method we are featuring in this article is something I definitely would not recommend; parachuting from a building.
It has been reported, and videotaped, that four men parachuted from the 55th floor of the Rialto Towers in Melbourne to avoid paying a bar tab. The men consumed multiple high-priced cocktails at the Vue de monde restaurant in the Rialto Towers.
“Basically, four guys came upstairs with parachutes hidden underneath their jackets,” restaurant owner Shannon Bennett said.
The men went into the bathroom for an outfit change and then climbed onto a tall plastic barrier that was outside of the restaurant. They then jumped from the building and parachuted down to the street. At street level, a getaway car was already waiting for them. The whole event was captured on surveillance video, which can be seen in this article, and police officers are using this video to hopefully identify the drink-and-dashers who skipped out on their tab. It is not known how much the tab was worth.
