Kimberly Smedley, a native of Georgia, has been accused of injecting the buttocks of women along the East Coast with toxic silicone in order to enlarge the buttocks. Smedley pled guilty this week on a felony conspiracy charge that stems from her illegal operation. Smedley ran her operation in Baltimore, Washington D.C., New York City and Philadelphia. She had clients living in all of those cities. The clients were required to pay $1,600 per injection to the 45-year-old woman. In 2008, Smedley admitted to a reporter for the New York Post that she is not a nurse. She also said that her clients, despite knowing she is not a nurse, would still want her to inject their buttocks with the silicone that is typically used for “metal or plastic lubrication, as an additive for paint and coatings, and furniture or automotive polishes,” according to court documents.

Smedley claims that she would use ‘medical-grade’ silicone for the injections despite the fact that surgeons use fat transfers or butt implants. Smedley injected each client’s cheek up to 10 times with the silicone and then she would plug holes with cotton balls and super glue. It has been reported that silicone treatments, which are illegal, have killed some people because the injection hit a vein and caused a blood clot.

From 2003 to 2011, Smedley was paid close to $200,000 by her clients, according to prosecutors. A butt implant procedure done by a licensed plastic surgeon can cost close to $10,000. Doctors have described illegal butt injections as ‘dirt cheap.’

There is a second person charged in the case. The second person is former D.C. cop Martin Freeman. Freeman would provide security to Smedley as she injected her clients in hotel rooms. Smedley could see five years in prison and fines of $250,000. She is scheduled to be sentenced on July 12.
