Crowell & Moring LLP Adds John S. Gibson

The law firm of Crowell & Moring LLP has announced that John S. Gibson has joined the Antitrust Group of the firm as a partner. Gibson left Winston & Strawn LLP in Los Angeles, where he worked with three other partners in the Global Steering Committee for their Antitrust Practice. Gibson will work in the Crowell & Moring office in Orange County. Gibson was hired not long after the addition of Steven D. Allison, who is also working in the Orange County office. The new additions to the firm were part of the firm’s expansion across the country in their litigation and trial departments.

“Through his many successes in trial and appellate work, John has earned a reputation within the California tech community as a ‘go-to’ lawyer for resolving complex commercial and antitrust disputes. John bolsters our litigation and appellate team nationwide. His notable experience is a tremendous asset to our clients, and in particular complements the relationships our West Coast offices have with Orange County and Silicon Valley companies,” said Daniel A. Sasse, Antitrust Group partner in a press release. Sasse is in charge of the law firm’s office in Orange County.

Gibson worked for more than 20 years on civil litigation cases including class action cases, antitrust cases and unfair-competition engagement cases. He has been the lawyer for Fortune 500 companies and start-up companies in the industries of medical devices, the internet, software, manufacturing and financial services. Gibson has worked on post-trial and appellate cases. One of the cases involved him helping to eliminate 95 percent of the highest antitrust jury verdict in the country by taking over the case once the trial was complete.

“Crowell & Moring has a premier antitrust practice with a deep bench, nationally and internationally, and I am excited about becoming a part of this entrepreneurial team. The firm continues to expand its practice at the intersection of intellectual property and antitrust law, the new frontier for high-technology clients. The firm offers clients a wealth of knowledge, experience, and championship teamwork. These factors, combined with the firm’s growing presence in California, create a strong platform to represent clients fiercely and intelligently in their most important legal matters,” said Gibson in the press release.

Gibson also sits on the Executive Committee and Board of Directors for the Constitutional Rights Foundation. One of the biggest victories for Gibson was when he acquired a federal court order that required a school district to allow the service dog for a student with autism in the school. This was the first court order of its kind in the country. Gibson acquired his J.D. from the University of Michigan Law School. He has his A.B. from Harvard College.
