In her reality television show, Basketball Wives, Kenya Bell recently dodged a wine bottle hurled by an irate costar; but in the courts, she’s being hit with accusations of wasteful spending. Who needs reality television when daily life is in itself more than real? After being stabbed by Kenya with a box-cutter in front of their two children, Charlie decided leave her, filing for divorce in a Michigan court this March. The divorce battle has picked up more flair than top-rated television: Kenya accused Charlie of splurging his money at Louis Vuitton in Paris while she struggles to support their children. Charlie retorted that he gives her more than enough money, but she she wastes it.
Making a laundry list of money she’s wasted, Charlie cited reasons why he would not give any more money than the $200,000 he left for her before he went to Italy to play basketball for Otto Caserta. He details her spending:
$3,000 spent covering her brother’s electric bill
$9,000 spent on luggage and shoes
$12,000 spent on a motorcycle
$20,000 spent on criminal attorneys
$82,000 spent on a Corvette which she played with for a mere three weeks before reselling it at $61,000
$110,000 on plastic surgeries
$150,000 of revenge spending to “get even with Mr. Bell.”
With such an itemized indictment, Kenya’s indignation as a mother looks feebler.
