Hey everyone! Did you survive Monday!? I did! Almost… Haha. I find myself exhausted by about 2:30pm and am so ready for a nap! Sadly I have class until 6pm! Not too conducive to napping. Instead, I got some chai tea from Starbucks and prayed for the best!

It helped me push through to my last class! P.S. if you ever order chai tea from Starbucks, be sure to emphasize that you want the TEA, not the latte…

Another great pick-me-up? My friend from Charleston, Meredith, sent me a picture of her horse Bert eating his favorite snack: Spanish Moss! I LOVE Bert, we had a special bond. I miss him to death and was so glad to see he was having a great afternoon!

I forgot to share this in my post yesterday, but I mixed up breakfast AGAIN on Sunday and ate something other than oats! This is insanity.

I had a piece of toast with hummus, avocado and tomato slices, scrambled egg whites and then some Siggi’s plain yogurt with PB2! It was filling and delicious!

So this book review has been a long time coming… I actually read Divergent on my way home from Colorado during spring break, about a month ago! I hadn’t been able to find it anywhere and got so frustrated! While waiting for a flight I stopped in a bookstore in the airport and couldn’t find it, but walking out I spotted it on a display! Score!

I wanted to read Divergent so badly because I’d heard it was a great book to read if you’d enjoyed the Hunger Games. See a Dystopia theme happening? Don’t worry, I’m taking a short break! But I had to share this book with all of you!

In Divergent, the world has been separated into five different “Factions,” each with their own rules, place in society and, most importantly, character traits. When a child becomes 16 the go through Choosing Day, in which they decide whether to stay in the faction in which their family raised them, or choose to join another. They are helped by an aptitude test, which tells them which faction they would be best suited for.

The heroine of the book, Beatrice, however, finds out that she actually fits into 3 of the factions and is considered a “divergent.” She is told by the tester to never tell anyone her results because being divergent makes her a dangerous person within the faction, yet Beatrice cannot understand why.

The novel follows Beatrice as she chooses her faction and embarks on a journey to prove to both herself and her faction that she truly belongs there, despite all her insecurities. I loved this novel because it always kept me on the edge of my seat, I was constantly waiting to see what would happen next and could literally not put it down! The book is 496 pages long and I finished it in 2 days! One part that I loved about the book was how complex Beatrice’s character was written – you can clearly tell that she has traits of several of the factions. Also, unlike Maze Runner, which I reviewed a couple weeks ago, there’s some romance involved, which also keeps the book much more interesting! I felt like this book was much more intriguing than Maze Runner because the characters were very developed and you grew quite attached to Beatrice, as well as a few of her friends.

I highly recommend this book if you enjoyed the Hunger Games, or if you want to try out a dystopia!

I’m hoping to read Julie’s, from Peanut Butter Fingers, next book club read, The Book Thief, but with finals coming up I’ve had a lot less free time for reading! The book is very different from what I’ve been reading so it might be a nice change!

What is your favorite book of all time!? I love hearing these!

Do you have anything that gets you through a long day?
