According to reports out of Australia, a female civil servant won her compensation case involving an injury she suffered while having sex on a business trip. The woman is entitled to compensation for facial and psychological injuries she suffered when a light fixture came off a wall and landed on top of her in a hotel room bed, according to the Australian Federal Court. The incident occurred while she was having sex with a friend of hers.
The woman’s identity has not been released to the public in order to protect her. She suffered injuries to her mouth, a tooth and her nose when the glass light hit her face. The incident took place back in November of 2007 and the recent decision reversed one issued previously by a lower court. The woman works for Australia’s Commonwealth Government Agency and her lawyer argued in front of the court that sex is an ordinary activity of life in a hotel room.
The judge decided to compensate the woman for the accident since she was on a business trip.
“If the applicant had been injured while playing a game of cards in her motel room, she would have been entitled to compensation,” Justice John Nickolas said.
