Meenakshi Thapar, a Bollywood actress, has allegedly been killed in a gruesome crime committed by two of her co-stars. The co-stars failed in trying to extort money from the actress’ family. Thapar was 26 and was strangled and then beheaded after being kidnapped by two actors she met on the set of the film ‘Heroine.’
Thapar was bragging about the wealth of her family, which lives in Dehra Dun, in the foothills of the Himalayas in northern India. The suspects include Amit Jaiswal, 36, and Preeti Surin, Jaiswal’s lover. They decided to kidnap Thapar after hearing of her family’s wealth.
According to Indian police, Thapar was lured by the couple on a trip to the town of Gorakhpur. While on the trip, the couple kidnapped Thapar and sent threatening message to her mother. The messages claim the couple would force Thapar to film pornographic movies if their financial demands were not met. Thapar’s family was asked to handover 1,500,000-rupee, or $28,000, to the couple. Thapar’s mother paid the couple a little over $1,000, which is 60,000 rupees. The couple decided that the money was not enough and decided to kill Thapar. The couple was found with Thapar’s phone and sim card in their possession and then confessed to the killing.
Thapar is most recognized for her role in ‘404,’ an Indian horror film, which is where she met her killers.
