Hey everyone! How’s the weekend going? Per usual, I can’t believe it’s already Sunday! Seriously, where does the weekend go?!? This upcoming week is my last week of classes and I’m just taking it day by day! I’ve got an oral argument to give tomorrow and a big presentation (plus papers to turn in) on Wednesday. In the presentation, we’re supposed to talk 15-20 minutes about our experience in the environmental clinic and we can’t use power point… what am I supposed to say for that long?!?

Ahhhh I just keep reminding myself that I just need to get through this week, enjoy my race on Saturday, and then study like a mad woman for my 3 finals! Hopefully it will be 2 weeks from today before I know it!!! Hopefully… haha.

Speaking of my race on Saturday, for those of you who don’t know I’m running in CARA’s Lakefront 10 miler. I got a free registration thanks to Lauren (She won it and gave it to me! Thanks again Lauren!!) so I’m pretty pumped about it! I ran my half marathon just 3 weeks ago, so I’m still pretty well trained, and I kind of just threw together my own “plan” for this race. As I mentioned before, I wanted to run this race for fun and not go for a PR. While training for the half marathon I had to pull back a lot on participation with Tina’s Best Body Bootcamp and really missed out on it!

I didn’t want to do the same for 2 weeks before this race since these are the last two weeks, so I decided to focus more on bootcamp and just make sure I can run 10 miles comfortably! I did 8 miles last week and this week I decided to go for 9!

I started out heading south and ended up going further than I planned, I saw how pretty the neighborhoods were in the Gold Coast area, and there were only 4-way stops so I could cruise right through! I decided to weave up and down through there since I was enjoying the change of scenery! This slowed me down a bit, but it was just too pretty to resist!

Then I headed back up the lakefront! Although it was pretty chilly (about 42 degrees – running tights kind of day!) it was really nice out, and there were TONS of other runners, which I love! I’m a big fan of people watching.

I thought this shot would be most flattering – BIG nose, teeeeeny feet.

I finished the run in 1:29:18, which gave me an average of 9:55 min/mile.

Although I hit my pace right on the dot for what I should be running, my miles were kinda all over the place! Here was my run mile by mile:

Splits:

mile 1 – 10:01

mile 2 – 10:02

mile 3 – 10:33 <—lots of turning up and down streets plus crossing a big light

mile 4 – 9:52

mile 5 – 10:05 <—water stop! Gotta hydrate!

mile 6 – 9:55

mile 7 – 9:51

mile 8 – 9:38 <—felt good so I started to pick it up!

mile 9 – 9:05 <—so close!

I was actually pleasantly surprised by this run! In the month or so before my half marathon, I was really burnt out and my long runs were AWFUL. Maybe it’s the lack of pressure I’m putting on myself? I also think it’s helping that I’m doing most of my runs (other than speed intervals) outdoors now, so I’m getting used to that!

Now it’s time for some more reading and prepping for these presentations… ahhhhh 2 weeks! 2 weeks! 2 weeks!!!!!!

Are you training for anything or working towards any goals right now?

Anyone else have finals or a big work project coming up!?!?
