Ted Nugent’s Appearance at Fort Knox Canceled

Ted Nugent was scheduled to perform at a concert at Fort Knox on June 23 but has since been removed from the lineup after catching the eye of the Secret Service for his comments regarding President Barack Obama. Nugent was schedule to be the headliner of the concert but that was before he made comments about Obama on Tuesday of last week. Nugent said that he would ‘be dead or in jail by this time next year’ should Obama be elected to a second term as president. The changes to the concert lineup were in the works only 48 hours after Nugent made those comments.

“After learning of opening act Ted Nugent’s recent public comments about the president of the United States, Fort Knox leadership decided to cancel his performance on the installation,” said a statement posted on the official Facebook page of Fort Knox on Thursday of last week.

The other two leading acts for the concert are Styx and REO Speedwagon. The United States Army made it clear that if concertgoers would like a refund they can contact Ticketmaster. On Thursday, Nugent and the Secret Service had a meeting that Nugent described as ‘a good, solid, professional meeting.’ The Secret Service said that any issues for the future have been resolved by the meeting.

Along with the comments made by Nugent about Obama, he has not had a good week. Nugent pleaded guilty in a black bear killing case up in Alaska. According to the plea agreement set forth, Nugent reportedly killed a black bear in May of 2009. The shooting occurred only a couple of days after he wounded a bear in another hunt.
