New Jersey Governor Chris Christie (R) has been heavily criticized during his time in office for his various stances on issues within the state but he faced a ton of ridicule at the White House Correspondents Diner this past weekend from comedian Jimmy Kimmel. Well, now Christie has responded to Kimmel’s remarks. Christie responded to Kimmel’s barbs on Monday during a news conference he was holding. Christie said that when Sofia Vergara is “next to you to console you… you don’t care what the heck Jimmy Kimmel said.” Vergara and Christie were at the same table during the annual dinner event. Christie then said, “The minute he started joking about the president being too thin, believe me, I figured I was in the zone of danger.”
On Saturday night at the White House Correspondents Dinner, Kimmel took to the podium to speak after President Barak Obama spoke.
“Look, it’s Chris Christie, get him! You know, they say that inside every American governor is a president struggling to get out,” the comedian joked. “In Chris Christie’s case, it’s the only one where you can still hear him screaming.”
Kimmel also said, “Gov. Christie, I think you might be misunderstanding New Jersey’s slogan — it’s not ‘The Olive Garden State’.”
