The law firm of Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan LLP announced recently that they have opened an office in Hamburg, Germany, according to a press release. This is the second office in Germany for the law firm. The office in Hamburg will house 11 lawyers focused on IP and other antitrust litigation. The managing partner for the Hamburg office will be Dr. Nadine Herrmann, who worked as the head of Allen & Overy’s German Intellectual Property Group.
John Quinn, the law firm’s Managing Partner, said the following about the announcement: “We represent many of the world’s leading technology companies. In today’s world, big intellectual property disputes are global. Any major patent dispute includes an EU component. Germany is the epicenter of EU patent litigation. The EU is at the forefront of antitrust implications of patent litigation. Nadine has the ideal background to deal with these complex issues.”
Dr. Herrmann said of the announcement: “I am excited about joining Quinn Emanuel. It is the premier IP ligation firm in the world. I am also looking forward to being reunited with my former colleague Marcus Grosch and helping him further develop the firm’s IP and antitrust practice.”
Herrmann graduated from Marburg University with a Ph.D. in law at the summa cum laude level. Herrmann also holds an LLM from the University of Sydney in Australia. Herrmann has qualifications as an English solicitor and is experienced practicing in the United States and in the United Kingdom. With the opening of the 11-lawyer office in Hamburg, the law firm now has over 20 lawyers in Germany. All of the lawyers will be focused on IP and other antitrust litigation issues.
