Jessica Simpson had her baby girl on Tuesday morning in Los Angeles. The baby is named Maxwell Drew Johnson. This is Simpson’s first child with fiancé Eric Johnson. Simpson’s fans had been waiting on egg shells for a couple of weeks as many believed she was due in the early stages of April.
“Eric and I are elated to announce the birth of our baby Maxwell Drew Johnson 9 lbs. 13 oz. 21 3/4,” Simpson wrote Tuesday on her website. “We are so grateful for all of the love, support and prayers we have received. This has been the greatest experience of our lives!”
Maxwell is named after her maternal grandmother, Tina Simpson, whose maiden name is Drew. Simpson and Johnson, both in their early 30s, dated for six months and then got engaged in November of 2010. They have not set a wedding date yet and would not set a date until after Maxwell’s birth.
Simpson was married to Nick Lachey from 2002 to 2005 and then dated Dallas Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo from 2007 to 2009. Simpson revealed her baby news on Halloween when she posted a picture of herself dressed as a mummy on Twitter.
“It’s true! I am going to be a mummy!” Simpson wrote on Twitter.

“Eric and I love each other so much, and knowing that I love this baby inside of me is so amazing–I love it so much and I haven’t even met them yet,” Simpson gushed in an interview with US Weekly. “I can’t imagine how much love we’ll have for it once it finally comes!”
As Simpson’s due date rapidly approached she became more and more uninhibited as she began to speak openly about the unattractive parts of being pregnant. Simpson talked about her crazy cravings, which included Pop Tarts covered in butter. She also talked about some of her physical problems. She told Jay Leno, “I just started calling myself Swamp Ass.”
Simpson appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live during the month of March and even made Kimmel, a seasoned comedian, blush a little bit with her comments. “I feel like I have a bowling ball sitting on my hoohah. Apparently I have a lot of amniotic fluid, so whenever my water breaks, it will be like a fire hydrant!”
Last month, Simpson made an appearance on Ryan Seacrest’s radio show and decided to discuss her sex life while pregnant with the host. “I am definitely ‘feeling intimate,'” Simpson explained to Seacrest. “I’m kind of unstoppable right now. The Big O is, like, the biggest O ever!”
