‘Supermoon Saturday’ Leaves Brilliant Photos

Saturday was dubbed as ‘Supermoon Saturday’ and it came and went with varying degrees of opinion across the country. Photos from the Supermoon have made it onto the internet, with some of them the most spectacular views you will ever see. If you were in a part of the country that suffered from cloudy skies, you will want to view these photos so you can understand just how amazing this event was. The moon was at its most super around 11:34 p.m. EDT. The moon was 221,802 miles from the Earth, which is 15,300 miles closer than it is on average.

With the moon 15,300 miles closer to the Earth, it appeared 14 percent larger and 30 percent brighter than it would if it were furthest from the Earth during an elliptical orbit. When the moon is closest to the Earth it is referred to as being in its period of perigee. The moon lined up with the sun to make it a full moon. Millions of people across the country and the world stopped for a minute to take in what was one of the most breathtaking spectacles in a long time on Earth. Let us know your supermoon stories in the comments section below and your thoughts about the photos.
