Greenberg Traurig Adds Dewey’s Poland Office

A group of about 50 lawyers from the Europe office of Dewey & LeBoeuf LLP are joining the firm of Greenberg Traurig. Greenberg was one of the firms considering a merger with Dewey or another type of transaction, which was something that never came to fruition. According to a statement from Greenberg, the Dewey office in Warsaw, Poland will now be known as Greenberg Traurig Grzesiak.

The name added to the firm’s name comes from Jaroslaw Grzesiak, who was the former managing partner from the Warsaw office at Dewey. The senior partner will be Lejb Fogelman. In a statement from Grzesiak, he said that multiple firms tried to win the lawyers from Dewey’s office in Poland. Greenberg also acquired partners in London and New York. This includes Frank R. Adams, who is from the executive committee of Dewey and was the former chair of Dewey’s corporate finance practice.

“This approach requires real discipline in an increasingly undisciplined world, as we focus on the careful selection of individuals and teams in a sensible manner,” Richard A. Rosenbaum said. Rosenbaum is the chief executive for Greenberg Traurig.

“This team has been successful in Poland for two decades, is integral to the Warsaw business and legal communities, and is exactly such an opportunity in one of the most important and successful European markets, where entrepreneurship in the private sector is highly valued and supported with policies that focus on growth.”
