The remains found in a creek close to Dallas have been identified by authorities as those of a 10-year-old boy who allegedly was starved to death by his dad and stepmom. It was announced by Dallas police that the department confirmed the identification of the remains with the Dallas County medical examiner. The medical examiner linked the remains with DNA tests to Johnathan Ramsey. The remains were found back on April 21 in Ellis County, just south of Dallas.
There was no comment issued by the medical examiner because the remains of the boy were found in another county. Starla Swanson, the stepmom of Johnathan’s mom, did say that the remains were identified as Johnathan. Aaron and Elizabeth Ramsey, the dad and stepmom of Johnathan, are still in jail on charges of felony injury to a child. Both the dad and the stepmom are being held in jail on $500,000 bail.
Police were told by Aaron Ramsey that he limited the meals for Johnathan to bread, water and some milk every now and then for a handful of months. Police records also indicate that Johnathan was confined to his room in his home in Dallas. Johnathan’s mom, Judy Williams, said that her and other relatives did not see the boy for quite a few months. Williams resides in New Mexico and has custody of the couple’s other son. The grandfather of the boy, Edward Ramsey, called police early in 2012 asking for them to search for the boy because he had not seen Johnathan in a year. Police said that Aaron and Elizabeth Ramsey first said Johnathan went to live with his mother but then they confessed to starving him to death.
Aaron Ramsey said that he placed his son on ‘military rations’ because Johnathan started misbehaving early in 2011. Ramsey claims Johnathan punched his stepmom in the stomach when she was pregnant, which caused a miscarriage. According to police records, Ramsey then hit Johnathan in the chest and locked him in his bedroom.
