Nixon had played the role of Miranda Hobbes on the HBO television show “Sex and the City” which was about single women going through life, love, and their careers in New York. Cynthia and Christina had been together for close to eight years and in 2009, they became engaged to each other at a public rally in support of same-sex weddings. They already have one son.
Christina is an education activist and the couple met each other in January 2004 at an education fund-raiser. They postponed their marriage plans until same-sex marriage was recognized and made legal in New York.
Previously, Cynthia was in a relation with photographer Danny Mozes, with whom she has two children.
In January, Cynthia had raised a storm in the media with her comment: I’ve been straight and I’ve been gay, and gay is better. And they tried to get me to change it, because they said it implies that homosexuality can be a choice. And for me, it is a choice. I understand that for many people it’s not, but for me it’s a choice, and you don’t get to define my gayness for me.”
In 2007, Cynthia had made another comment which earned fame: “I don’t really feel I’ve changed. I’d been with men all my life, and I’d never fallen in love with a woman. But when I did, it didn’t seem so strange. I’m just a woman in love with another woman.”
This year, Cynthia confirmed that she was bisexual.
