A family law judge has ordered that Halle Berry pay her ex, model Gabriel Aubry, a sum of $20,000 per month in child support. Berry was ordered to begin making the payments, which add up to almost a quarter of a million dollars each year, earlier in the week. The couple has a four-year-old daughter, Nahla.
The former couple has been embroiled in a nasty custody battle since they split back in 2010. Despite the former couple battling over custody in public for two years, this is the first time that a judge has issued a court order over the child support. When speaking to People magazine last year, Berry said, “Our issues were never about fighting for her. We both know a child needs both her parents. But what I want to say about it is sometimes, as a couple, you reach an impasse. We needed a court and a judge to help us work out some of the delicate issues … because for her sake, this is the best way. We both love her more than life.”
Now, Berry is engaged to actor Olivier Martinez and wants to move Nahla to France with her and her new fiancé. Earlier in 2012, Aubry was investigated by the DCFS because a nanny said that he was abusive to her. Aubry attended anger management counseling back in January.
