Loeb & Loeb LLP Adds Roger Peng to Beijing Office

The law firm of Loeb & Loeb LLP has announced that Roger C. Peng has joined the firm as a partner in the Beijing, China, office. Peng left the firm of Paul Hastings, where he worked in their Beijing office as well. Before joining Paul Hastings, Peng worked for Hogan & Hartson’s Beijing office as managing partner. Hogan & Hartson is now Hogan Lovells.

Peng concentrates on mergers and acquisitions, private equity, complex commercial transactions and venture capital. His practice particularly focuses on transactions within the Internet, telecommunications, software and technology industries. Peng represents clients working in various private equity transactions and investment funds. He also works on acquiring targets/sellers in cross-border mergers and acquisitions.

“Roger’s outstanding reputation and deep experience handling complex U.S. dollar- and RMB-denominated private equity transactions and cross-border M&A transactions is very well suited to the deal activity we are seeing in China today,” said Mitchell S. Nussbaum, the chair of the firm’s Capital Markets and Asia Practices. “His decision to join Loeb in Beijing is a great testament to our profile and top-tier client base in these core areas, and we are very happy to welcome him to the firm.”

Michael D. Beck, the chairman for Loeb & Loeb LLP, said the following about Peng’s addition to the firm: “Loeb has had a robust practice in China for many years now and the continued growth of our global capital markets, M&A and private equity capabilities is a strategic focus for us. Roger’s addition to our team in Beijing is representative of our commitment to expanding the office with the market’s top talent.”

Peng speaks fluent English and Mandarin and practiced in New York City before he moved to Beijing. He has practiced in the China region dating back to 2000. Peng studied for his J.D. at Columbia Law School and earned his B.S. from Bridgewater College. Peng has been recognized in Chambers Asia, International Financial Law Review and The Asia Pacific Legal 500. Peng was also named in the Asian Legal Business Hot 100 list of preeminent lawyers in the region. His work as a top lawyer in mergers and acquisitions, venture capital and private equity has been recognized across the globe.

“Loeb is recognized as one of the market leaders in China and I am pleased to bring my practice to the firm,” said Peng. “I look forward to working with such a sophisticated team on the ground in Beijing and in the U.S.”
