DirecTV and Viacom have been publicly battling recently about DirecTV’s reluctance to pay fees Viacom requires to carry their 26 channels. Now, the public battle has claimed the online episodes of ‘The Daily Show’ and ‘The Colbert Report.’ The satellite company announced on Tuesday night that it had dropped Viacom’s channels from its lineup. These channels included Nickelodeon, Comedy Central and MTV.
The satellite provider did let its customers know that they could watch episodes of ‘The Colbert Repot’ and ‘The Daily Show’ on the website of Comedy Central. The videos found on the website for Comedy Central can be embedded on other websites, which is why episodes can be found elsewhere. Well, Viacom decided to take things to another level, removing full episodes of the two shows from the Comedy Central website. Individual clips of the shows are still on the website though.
Fans of the shows that do not have DirecTV are likely to be incredibly frustrated with this move by Viacom as they will not be able to watch full episodes of the shows because of the feud. The suspension of the full episodes probably will not last forever and will return wen Viacom and DirecTV come to an agreement. The two shows are on hiatus right now but their websites are urging fans to contact DirecTV in support of Viacom shows.
