Tracy Rolan, more commonly known as Harmony Rose, has been working as a volunteer EMT recently. She previously worked in the porn industry from 2004 to 2010, being featured in over 200 films during the period. Some of her films include “Masturbation Nation 3,” “Farmer’s Daughters Take It Off” and “Sack Lunch.”
Rose reportedly left the porn industry at the age of 29 so she could train as a volunteer EMT with the Cave Spring Rescue Squad in Roanoke, Virginia for the past couple of months. Some officials are now angry over her involvement in the training program. It is not known when Rose officially left the porn industry but she was last credited in a porn movie back in 2010.
Director of Public Information Teresa Hall said that Fire Chief Rich Burch learned of Rose’s former career from employees of the Roanoke Fire & Rescue. Burch decided to contact the Office of the County Attorney since he never had to deal with such an issue in the past. Burch received a reply from attorney Paul M. Mahoney on June 27 in a letter. The letter said that Roanoke County does not involve itself in decisions made by volunteer rescue squads.
The letter also said that “They must exhibit the highest degree of trustworthiness and public esteem since they will be dealing with citizens when they are most vulnerable, or entering citizens’ homes and businesses under emergency circumstances. Anything that results in public ridicule of volunteer squads, departments, or the County must be avoided.”
The letter points out that the squad allows 16 and 17 year olds to train and volunteer and Mahoney asks, “will parents be unwilling to allow their minor children to participate under these circumstances? Will this harm future volunteer recruitment?” The letter also recommended that Burch “supports the decision of the volunteer chief if she decides to terminate the membership of [Rose].”
The community appears to be in favor of Rose working with the EMT squad. Almost 500 comments have been posted on the story published on the WDBJ Facebook page, with the majority of them being in favor of Rose staying with the EMT squad.
“I believe if you or a loved one is having a true medical emergency,” Jonathan Whorley wrote, “your [sic] not going to care about the former occupation of the person helping you.”
“It’s not like she was doing porn in the squad building,” Theodore Hughes said.
Rose passed a criminal background check and Chief Laura Alexander said that Rose is on a six month probation period, which is standard for new volunteers with the squad.
