Sailing and Sisterhood Everlasting

Hey everyone! Remember, you can still enter my Blogiversary Giveaway for Chobani yogurt! Also, check out my guest post on Clean Eating Chelsey!

So last Friday I got an AMAZING opportunity to go sailing! A lawyer in my office offered to take some of the interns out on his boat for the afternoon, and of course I said yes! I grew up sailing every summer at camp, taught sailing one summer at another camp, and have taken 3 different week long sailing trips, two to the Apostle Islands, WI and one to the British Virgin Islands! But I haven’t been sailing in six years, I REALLY REALLY miss it!

Getting on that boat was like riding a bike: you never forget! Although we didn’t have a ton of wind, we had a great time sailing, seeing the city from the water, having some great snacks and fresh watermelon and just hanging out!

I am so thankful to have had that opportunity!

Last week I also finished the book Sisterhood Everlasting, by Ann Brashares

Okay. I actually finished it in 2 days. It was SO GOOD! I would definitely recommend reading the rest of the series first though, this book would just be confusing and depressing if you didn’t already know the characters and their stories!

As I said before, I really enjoyed this book! Although I heard from some of you that you found it depressing, which I can understand. Although the main event at the beginning of the book that starts off the rest of the story is quite shocking and sad, sad things happen in real life and what I loved about this book was showing how each of the women dealt with their grief and eventually came together and realized how important it is to let other people in, rather than just pushing them away during difficult times.

It may not be winning any literary awards, but I think a quick and fun read is important every once and a while (or a lot…). I loved reading the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants movie, so to me this was one more glimpse into their lives and I enjoyed every minute of it! I really just wanted to skip work and stay home to read! I couldn’t put it down!

If you’re a fan of the series, I recommend picking this book up! Meghann loved it too!

Have you ever been sailing?

What’s a book series that you’ve been keeping up with over many years?

Kathryn Wheeler: My name is Katie and I moved to Chicago in 2010 for law school and graduated in May 2013. I'm originally from Kansas City, MO and I did my undergrad at the College of Charleston in South Carolina. I started this blog in August of 2011 because I needed a creative outlet and I wanted to write about my life in a way that other women could relate to and realize that they aren’t alone in many aspects of their lives.
