On Wednesday, actress Mayim Bialik was involved in a car accident in Los Angeles. The accident caused serious injuries to her left hand and thumb. Bialik was nominated for an Emmy for her work on “The Big Bang Theory.” The Volvo Bialik was driving was hit close to the intersection of LaBrea Avenue and Hollywood Boulevard. She was transported to a local hospital for treatment.
A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department said that Bialik was driving south on LaBrea Avenue when she was struck. A vehicle traveling north on LaBrea Avenue turned left in front of the Volvo, deploying both of the car’s airbags. The LAPD said that Bialik suffered severe lacerations to her hand and thumb and might need surgery.
Production for “The Big Bang Theory†resumed last week and a spokesperson for the show said that production will not be delayed due to Bialik’s injury. The Emmy nomination for Bialik was the first of her career and it came for her supporting actress role last month. Bialik tweeted just a couple of hours after the accident, saying that she was “in pain.” She also said that she would be back at work by Thursday. Bialik’s husband tweeted the following for her:
