DLA Piper to Merge with Firm in Paris

DLA Piper has announced that it has joined with Paris, France corporate firm Frieh Bouhenic. The merger between the two firms will take effect on October 1 and will increase the total number of lawyers for DLA in France to 30 partners and 40 further lawyers.

The office in Paris will be co-chaired by Frieh Bouhenic co-founder Michel Frieh and the head of employment, pensions and benefits for DLA, Bijan Eghbal. In January of 2011, Frieh Bouhenic was created when Bouhenic Baudin & Associates merged with Frieh & Associates.

The firm of Frieh Bouhenic practices in the areas of litigation, acquisition and corporate financings, M&A, restructuring, employment, private equity and insolvency.

Eghbal said about the merger that “We are very enthusiastic about this strategic added capacity in Paris which represents an outstanding opportunity for our corporate and restructuring practices.”

Tony Angel, a senior partner with DLA Piper said, “Frieh Bouhenic is an impressive firm with exceptional lawyers whose practice is very complementary to our current offering.”

The news of the merger in Paris comes a couple of months after DLA Piper expanded its reach in Italy by hiring five new partners and a team of 15 lawyers from Studio Legale Grimaldi & Associati. In February, the firm opened an office in Mexico City.
