Police Officer Killed by Red Bull Heir

One of the grandsons of the Red Bull creator has been arrested for hitting a police officer and dragging his deceased body down a street in Bangkok. The incident was a hit-and-run and the suspect, Vorayuth Yoovidhya, was driving a Ferrari. He was taken into custody for questioning after officers followed oil streaks for blocks until they ended at his family’s estate. He faces charges of escaping an arrest by police and death by reckless driving. He was released on bail of $15,900.

Vorayuth did tell police officers that he was driving the Ferrari but that the motorcycle of the officer cut in front of his vehicle, according to Maj. Gen. Anuchai Lekbamroong. The investigation was taken over by Bangkok’s head police officer because a lower officer tried to cover-up the crime by arresting a false suspect.

The victim was Sgt. Maj. Wichean Glanprasert and the officer who tried to turn the investigation towards another suspect has been suspended. Lt. Gen. Comronwit Toopgrajank, the top officer in Bangkok, said, “A policeman is dead. I can’t let this stand. If I let this case get away, I’d rather quit. I don’t care how powerful they are. If I can’t get the actual man in this case, I will resign.”
