Chadbourne & Parke, an international law firm, has signed a lease for its brand new headquarters in New York City. The lease immediately becomes the largest transaction for a law firm in Manhattan this year and of the largest leases overall in Manhattan’s market for 2012. According to a press release from the firm, the offices will be located at 1301 Sixth Avenue effective immediately. The move will not be complete until the demolition, redesign and build-out of the new space is finished.
The lease has a life of 20 years and is for over 200,000 square feet of space. The lease also offers two, five-year options for renewing the lease as well as expansion options for add-on floors. Chadbourne operates practices in the areas of tax, renewable energy/project finance, litigation and bankruptcy, corporate/M&A and others.
“We intend to design and build an office for the future, leveraging some of the key drivers for our clients and our lawyers — efficiency, flexibility and technology. We will create a state-of-the-art workspace for our clients, our lawyers and our staff,” said Chadbourne Managing Partner Andrew Giaccia.
Gensler, a leading international design and architectural firm, will design the new office for the firm.
“We’re delighted to have closed this complex transaction. The deal allows us to take substantial space under attractive terms in the former headquarters of Dewey & LeBoeuf. 1301 Sixth Avenue is a premier office building in a prime location,” said Giaccia.
