She’s been an avalanche in the media and entertainment industry and Katy Perry has now been awarded this year’s Billboard Woman of the Year award. Bill Werde, the editorial director of Billboard said in a statement that “Katy Perry broke into the industry not even five years ago, and has already accomplished more than most artists can hope for in an entire career.”
Bill said Katy was selected as the Billboard Woman of the Year for her accomplishments that have made her “one of the most exciting and inspiring artists in the industry.” Katy Perry would be receiving the award on November 30, at the 2012 Billboard Women in Music event in New York.
The katycats on Twitter and Facebook must be in high spirits with their idol being recognized with an award previously received by the likes of Taylor Swift, Beyonce, and Fergie.
In December 2011, Katy Perry was placed by Forbes at No.3 position on their list of highest-earning female musicians. Her estimated pre-tax earnings were more than $44 million. She is known to be the branding face of skin care line Proactiv and Popchips snacks among other products including her own line of perfume, nail polish, and false eyelash lines.
In U.S. alone, Katy Perry has sold more than 48 million tracks including hits like “Firework,” “California Gurls,” “E.T.” and “Hot N Cold” from her 2008 debut “One Of The Boys” and 2010 album “Teenage Dream.” Katy is a role model to many, a person who has the strength to channel her losses into wins, as she did with her split from Russell Brand to create the chart-topper “Part Of Me.”
