The concert, “We Will Always Love You: A Grammy Salute To Whitney Houston” would be televised on CBS on the 16th of November. The first performers for the concert, so far announced, are Celine Dion, Jennifer Hudson and Usher. The one hour event would be recorded in Los Angeles on October 11 and would also feature footage and interviews of Whitney and artists sharing their memories of the legendary singer.
The premature death of Whitney Houston at the age of 48 happened on the eve of the Grammy awards in February. Her death was attributed to loss of consciousness brought on by a combination of cocaine and heart disease and then drowning by accident in her bathtub.
The televised concert in remembrance of Whitney is scheduled to coincide with the November 13 release of the album of Whitney’s greatest hits “I Will Always Love You – The Best of Whitney Houston.” The album would feature 16 of Whitney’s best hits and two unreleased songs including a new duet with R. Kelley, “I Look To You.”
From October 17, Lifetime television network would be launching a new reality series, “The Houstons On Our Own.” The series would cover Houston’s 19-year old daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown, her former manager and sister-in-law Pat Houston, and mother Cissy as they get on with life following the death of the singer and without her.
