The BET Hip Hop Awards were filmed on Saturday in Atlanta. According to reports, shots were fired outside the taping of the show when a shoving incident occurred backstage between Rick Ross and Young Jeezy. The men went at each other in a heated exchange until bodyguards and BET security could separate them.
The incident did not end there though as one of Ross’ entourage went to the parking lot for the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center, drew a gun, and then fired multiple shots. According to police reports, shots were not even fired. Also, no injuries were reported.
The building was shut down for sometime but filming of the show resumed with tighter security. Neither of the two rappers were arrested, according to the Atlanta Police Department. Hot 97 DJ Funkmaster Flex tweeted the night of the incident that the two rappers ran into each other backstage at the filming.
Funkmaster Flex tweeted, ‘Jeezy and Rick Ross just had words backstage!! Pushing and shoving!!!’
The DJ then tweeted, ‘Beef just spread to the parking lot!!!’ His next tweet read, ‘Shots fired in parking lot!!! Gunman arrested!!! Back to the show and the Club later!!!’
The awards show is scheduled to air on October 9.
