Stacey Dash, who became famous with her role in the movie “Clueless,” tweeted support for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney recently. She also posted a patriotic swimsuit of herself when making the announcement. Ever since the tweet, Dash has become the target of racially charged abuse because she is not backing President Barack Obama.
“You’re an unemployed black woman endorsing Mitt Romney. You’re voting against yourself thrice. You poor beautiful idiot,” a Twitter user wrote. Another user, @Black Voice wrote, “Stacey Dash had a perm since birth. I knew I couldn’t trust her.. lol.”
Dash was also called multiple offensive names and accused of “voting for white supremacy,” claiming that the actress “is white with a dark tan.”
Some supporter of the president even suggested that “the old hag kill herself.” One person who reportedly suggested suicide is a doctor who is an active democrat in D.C. That tweet came from @WilliamEllisPhD and reads: “@REALStaceyDash: Vote for Romney. The only choice for your future. @mittromney @teamromney #mittromney http://t.co/TtGpJWAw” kill yourself.”
Dash responded with, “My humble opinion… EVERYONE is entitled to one.”
On the other side of the spectrum, there were some good responses to Dash’s announcement. Some tweets included: “Thank you for being willing to think for yourself despite what your haters have to say.”
“You can NEVER, EVER (did I say never?) NEVER leave the Dem party if you r Black. Once you do, the name calling begins.”
