On Monday, Hulk Hogan filed a lawsuit against the website Gawker, in the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, Tampa, claiming $100 million in damages for posting portions of a sex tape featuring Hogan having sex with the wife of his best friend Bubba. At the time of the tape, which was six years ago, Heather Clem was lawfully married to Bubba the Love Sponge.
According to Hogan, Bubba gave his best friend permission to have sex with his wife Heather, who also consented. Hogan claims Bubba videotaped the scene unknown to him.
People are wondering which is more difficult to accept – Hogan having sex with the wife of his best friend, Heather Clem having sex with the best friend of her husband, Bubba giving permission to Hogan to have sex with his wife, or Bubba videotaping while his wife was having sex with his best friend. That’s celebrity lifestyle for you.
In any event, Hogan, who was also the best man in Heather’s wedding to Bubba and the godfather to their son, also sued Bubba and Heather for undisclosed damages in Pinellas County, Florida.
Stephen Diaco, Bubba’s lawyer said “Bubba is a victim; Heather is a victim …. Bubba does not know who released the tape.” Bubba’s lawyer claims Hogan is feigning ignorance, but he was aware of the existence of the videotape all along.
The lawsuit against Gawker mentions that the posting of the video “constitutes a shameful and outrageous invasion of plaintiff’s right of privacy by a group of loathsome defendants who have no regard for human dignity and care only about maximizing their revenues and profits at the expense of all others.”
A lawyer for Gawker, Cameron Stracher said, “He’s having sex with another man’s wife in another man’s home … I’m not sure it’s reasonable to say he has an expectation of privacy under the circumstances.”
