Kerri Ann Heffernan has been accused of robbing four banks in the Brockton area and was only caught because a teller at a bank knew who she was and actually called her by name. Heffernan, from Bridgewater, was scheduled for arraignment on Monday of this week. She was arrested this past weekend by police, who also seized her Hyundai Elantra, her cell phone, cash, clothing and other items that were covered with red dye.
In order for Heffernan to pay her $2,000 rent, police claim that she robbed three banks this past weekend. Two Citizens Bank branches at Stop & Shop stores in Brockton were robbed and a Bank in Whitman was robbed. People who witnessed the robberies said that Heffernan was seen crying during the incidents.
In one of the robberies, a teller recognized the woman and asked her, “Do you want to make a deposit Kerri?” The fourth robbery could be connected to Heffernan. It took place in September in Stoughton and police are trying to figure out if Heffernan is the suspect in that incident.
Heffernan was arraigned Monday in Brockton District Court. She entered a not guilty plea and her bail was set for $7,500. According to her lawyer, Edward Sharkansky, Heffernan is a single mother with a stable job.
