Don Lemon is the host of the prime-time weekend edition of CNN Newsroom, based in Atlanta, Georgia. According to TMZ, he reported Jonah Hill is a rude, arrogant a-hole who treated Lemon like “the help” when he attempted to shake Hill’s hand during a run-in at a hotel.
Since the incident, Lemon appears to be trashing the Hill to anyone who will listen. Lemon was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He majored in broadcast journalism at Brooklyn College in Brooklyn, New York, and attended Louisiana State University.
In early November, the bitter Lemon had a mission to blast the actor across multiple media platforms. On Twitter, Lemon called Hill a “Tool,” according to ABC News. Lemon, age 46, tweeted he said “hi” to Hill, age 28, and star of “21 Jump Street” in a hotel. Hill didn’t say “hi” back. Lemon wrote: “Think he thought I was a bellman. Didn’t know his name til the bellman told me. A lesson to always be kind.”
Hill responded to the controversy: “I said hi. What do you want me to do, move in with you? I was in a hurry. Didn’t realize you were a 12 year old girl. Peace,” according to ABC News. Lemon shot back that Hill was not his type, and tweeted “Stardum is fleeting.” Hill plays an undercover cop in the movie remake of the television show 21 Jump Street with Channing Tatum. Hill grew up in Los Angeles, CA. He is the son of a tour accountant for Guns N’ Roses.
Lemon started his news career as a news assistant at WNYW (TV 5 in New York City). He has reported as a weekend anchor for WCAU (TV 10 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), and investigative reporter for KTVI (TV 2 in St. Louis).
According to TMZ, Hill slammed the CNN anchor: “I walked out of the restroom and found you waiting for me. Shook hands, said hi and was on my way. Sorry if you found that rude.” Lemon replied: “Bellman & I laughed at how self-important u were.”
The two cyber-sparred until Lemon went on CNN to exploit the feud: “Jonah Hill doesn’t owe me anything…” Lemon said he expected an apology from Hill. One of the members of the CNN panel suggested a smokeout solution: “Your love of marijuana could bring you guys together.”
The controversy interrupted CNN’s post-election coverage. The anchor attempted to explain the situation, but added to the feud: “He may have been having a bad day, but Jonah Hill treated me like the help.” He admitted Hill did shake his hand, but it was a “wet handshake,” adding: “Normally it doesn’t bother me, but I was done, because I was taught by mother to always be kind to people.”
