Possibly, Mesa resident Daniel Solomon, 36, did not vote this election to play safe at home, but the strategy failed to save his day. His wife, Holly Solomon, 28, distressed at Obama’s win, blamed Daniel for not participating in voting, chased him with a jeep, and finally ran him over. From being in a precarious condition at home, Daniel is now in a critical condition at hospital, though he is expected to survive.
Even if Daniel had voted against Obama, following his wife’s wishes, it would have made no difference, because all 11 electorates in Arizona went to Romney, anyway. He couldn’t escape the blame for Obama winning, though.
According to Gilbert Police Department, Holly Solomon was not impaired by alcohol or drugs at the time she hit her husband with the car and pinned him under it. An e-mail sent to the media by Gilbert police Sergeant Jesse Sanger mentions, “According to Daniel, Holly believed her family was going to face hardship as a result of President Obama’s re-election.”
Holly Solomon was arrested on charges of domestic violence and aggravated assault.
According to the police, the argument between Holly and Daniel started on a parking lot on Saturday morning with Holly blaming Daniel for not caring to vote. Witnesses have mentioned that the argument ended with yelling and Holly Solomon getting into her Jeep and beginning to chase Daniel with her car.
Initially, Daniel tried to protect himself by trying to move behind a light pole, with Holly driving around to get at him, several times while continuing to yell. Ultimately, Daniel tried to flee but Holly hit him with the Jeep and tried to make a paste out of him on a curb.
Luckily, the police arrived and Daniel escaped death. He was taken to Scottsdale Healthcare Osborn Medical Center, where he is fighting his injuries.
According to the police, Daniel has said his wife is six months pregnant.
