Since there has already been one update on this story, it is only fair that there should be an update about things coming full circle and of the person accusing Kevin Clash of underage sex, retracting his statement.
The accuser, who has not been identified, has turned around and released a statement on Tuesday through Harrisburg law firm Andreozzi & Associates claiming that his relationship with Kevin was as an adult, and consensual.
It is not known why the man made the accusations in the first place, and it is similarly unknown why he chose to recant. Anyway, for now at least, things seem to have returned to normalcy.
Following the statement of the accuser, Sesame Workshop issued a statement observing, “We are happy that Kevin can move on from this unfortunate episode.” Clash did not add much in a separate statement, except saying he is “relieved that this painful allegation has been put to rest.”
Little has been learnt of the possible date when Clash would return to the show, and there has been no indication of that happening any time soon.
The fact of Clash leaving the show, by itself, was a little ludicrous as the accuser had contacted Sesame Workshop in June, and an internal investigation that met with the accuser twice, and also met with Clash, had found the allegations of underage sex without substance.
Kevin has given enough to the entertainment world to win 23 daytime Emmy awards and one prime time Emmy, and it would be nice to see him continue to entertain viewers with this unfortunate incident over and forgotten.
