A home in Prince George’s County, Maryland was raided by the FBI on Thursday morning around 6 a.m. Agents performing the raid opened fire on the family, which was unarmed, injuring an 18-year-old woman, according to WJLA. The FBI said last week that it was at the home to carry out a search warrant but did not release any other information for the raid.
MyFoxDC reported that the raid was just one of many coordinated raids by the FBI in areas around Washington, D.C. and Maryland. According to their report, four people were arrested in the other raids and a fifth suspect is still on the loose.
The FBI said that the woman was shot at because one agent thought she was holding a weapon. An unidentified source inside the home said that at least five shots were fired in the living room of the home. The woman’s father, Emory Hughley, tried to tell agents that no one inside the home was armed.
Emory’s daughter, Myasia, was observed standing outside of her bedroom by an agent when the agent screamed, “She’s got a gun,” which caused an eruption of gunfire, according to Emory.
The FBI has not disclosed what she might have been holding that would have led agents to believe that she was armed at the time. According to Emory, the teen was not hit with a bullet but instead with “shrap metal” in her neck. She was treated for a flesh wound at a local hospital and then released.
The FBI is reporting a different story on the incident. According to a field agent from Baltimore, the woman was not wounded by a bullet. Instead, the agent said that the woman was taken to the hospital because of a wound she suffered from a fall during the raid. Reports from the area say that there are multiple bullet holes in the home. Neighbors of the home heard a bang around 6:30 in the morning and said that the family never caused any problems.
