Last week FBI agents arrested Lisa Biron, a lawyer prominently associated with anti-gay Christian defense group Alliance Defending Freedom. Prosecutors have alleged that Biron took a teen girl from Manchester to Ontario, Canada, on May 25 and forced her to engage in sexual acts with another person while she made a video recording.
The New Hampshire lawyer, who has been accused of subjecting a string of juveniles to her sex and drug use, had carefully positioned herself by becoming a part of anti-gay Christian lawyers’ movement which believes in keeping “the door open for the spread of the Gospel.”
She also worked her way into the board of directors at Mount Zion Christian Schools in Manchester and became a figure of stern authority to children as a lawyer, a pro-Christian activist, and a member of the school board of directors.
The police were tipped off by a man who reported to the Manchester Police Department that he had seen pornography on Biron’s computer. A search warrant of her home was executed and the police found pornographic materials on her computer including evidence of pedophilia.
Thinking herself safely backed by a powerhouse of activists who believe in “religious liberty, the sanctity of life, and marriage and family,” according to evidence before the court, Biron sent a threatening message to the man who had exposed her, telling him that he should watch his back “FOR EVER.”
Biron has been charged with transportation with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity, possession of child pornography, and five counts of sexual exploitation of children. Judge Landay McCafferty has denied bail to Biron.
Federal prosecutors have alleged that two witnesses have testified that they have seen Biron in possession of cocaine, ecstasy, and marijuana, and other juveniles besides the girl who had been taken to Canada, have already been subjected to sex by Biron.
While pleading for bail on behalf of Biron, her defense lawyer pointed out her lack of criminal history, or the fact that she had never been caught before this incident.
