Settlement Reached in Strauss-Kahn Lawsuit

In a report from Bloomberg, Dominique Strauss-Kahn, the former head of the International Monetary Fund, has agreed to a settlement of a lawsuit filed by a former hotel maid. The maid accused Strauss-Kahn of trying to rape her, according to the New York Times.

According to the newspaper, the details of the settlement have yet to be released and the settlement has not been signed either. The Times also said that the monetary value of the settlement has not been made public and the two parties are scheduled to meet in front of New York Supreme Court Justice Douglas E. McKeon next week in the Bronx.

The attorneys for the maids are Kenneth Thompson and Douglas Wigdor. They did not issue comment in the New York Times report. The spokesperson for Strauss-Kahn’s lawyers working the case, William Taylor III and Amit Mehta, also did not issue a comment. The spokesperson is Marina Ein.

On May 14, 2011, Strauss-Kahn was removed from an Air France flight at John F. Kennedy International Airport and arrested and charged with trying to rape the maid. The maid is Nafissatou Diallo, who worked at the Sofitel in Manhattan’s midtown section.

Back in August, a civil lawsuit was filed against Strauss-Kahn in the Bronx by Diallo. The lawsuit was filed weeks prior to Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. dropping the criminal charges against Strauss-Kahn. Vance Jr. determined that Diallo lied about events that were attached to the supposed attack.
