Newton School Shooting Victims’ Names Released

Connecticut’s Chief Medical Examiner H. Wayne Carver II released a list of the shooting victims on Saturday evening for the 26 who died from Friday’s shooting spree in Sandy Hook Elementary School. The second-deadliest school shooting in U.S. history cost the lives of twenty children, 16 of which were six-year-olds, and 4 who were seven-year-olds.

The bodies of the victims had been shot multiple times, from three to eleven times a piece.

“I’ve been at this for a third of the century,” said Carver, “and this is probably the worst that I have seen or the worst that I know of any of my colleagues having seen.”

To ease the brutality of parents identifying their deceased children, the medical office provided photos of the victims to the families rather than having them come in person. “It’s easier on the families when you do that,” said Carver.
