According to a story from TMZ, singer LeAnn Rimes told the celebrity website that she was not drunk when she appeared on the television show “X Factor” on Wednesday night this week. That comment from Rimes is contrary to popular belief.
Rimes told TMZ that she was not impaired when she performed on the national show and said that if there seemed to be awkwardness it was because “I was trying to help this 13-year-old girl who was having some trouble with the song.”
The girl she was performing with was Carly Rose Sonenclar, whom Rimes believed was incredibly nervous and was having trouble with notes in the song. Rimes said that she was doing whatever she could to help Sonenclar make it through the entire song.
Larry Stein, the lawyer for Rimes, told TMZ the following: “LeAnn was not performing the way she would normally perform, because she was on stage with a young girl.”
Rimes said that she has no idea why people thought she was drunk during her performance. Stein, on the other hand, has a reason: “There have been a lot of untrue things said by others and it feeds into this sort of thing.”
We have embedded the video of the performance by Rimes and Sonenclar in this post. Take a look at it yourselves and let us know in the comment section what you think.
