The law firm DLA Piper announced via a press release on Monday that Courtney Gilligan Saleski, a former assistant United States attorney in the District of Columbia, has joined the firm as a partner in its Litigation practice. Saleski will work in the firm’s Philadelphia office.
The investigations and prosecutions led by Saleski centered on procurement fraud, health care fraud, public corruption matters and securities fraud. Saleski worked in the Fraud & Public Corruption Section as a member of the Health Care Fraud Unit. Saleski joins the firm with experience in litigating child abuse, sex abuse and violent crime cases.
“Courtney’s arrival greatly expands our white collar defense and investigations capabilities, particularly in the health care sector, and enhances our broader complex civil litigation capabilities in Philadelphia and nationally,” Robert Mathias said. Mathias is the joint global leader and US chair of DLA Piper’s Litigation practice.
“Courtney is a tremendous talent who will be a unique resource for clients facing the myriad of issues associated with civil, regulatory and criminal investigations,” Carl Hittinger said. Hittinger is the leader of Philadelphia’s Litigation practice.
Early in Saleski’s career, she was a clerk for Chief Justice William Rehnquist for the United States Supreme Court and Judge Frank Magill for the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit. Saleski formerly served as a rotational assistant United States attorney in the Appellate Division. While there she argued cases in front of the United States Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit.
“Along with her accomplishments as a trial lawyer, Courtney is also a seasoned and highly effective appellate litigator,” James Brogan said. Brogan is the managing partner of the Philadelphia office. “Her experience as an assistant US attorney and US Supreme Court law clerk provide her with extremely valuable credentials that will be an important asset to the Philadelphia office and the firm.”
Saleski studied law and earned her J.D. at George Washington University Law School. Saleski earned her B.S. at the University of Scranton.
