New York, NY, Jan. 9, 2013…Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP, a national law firm with offices in New York, Los Angeles and Miami, has promoted attorneys to Partner and Special Counsel, effective January 1, 2013.

The new Partner and Special Counsel are:
Charles E. Cantine, (Partner – Intellectual Property, New York) Mr. Cantine’s practice focuses on intellectual property law, including patent, trademark and trade secret litigation. He has served as trial counsel before federal trial and appellate courts throughout the United States. Mr. Cantine also helps clients develop and manage international and domestic intellectual property portfolios involving patents, trademarks and trade secrets to protect his client’s research and development activities and commercial products. Mr. Cantine received his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law and his B.S. in Chemical Engineering from The Catholic University of America.
Beth K. Clark, (Special Counsel – Litigation, New York) Ms. Clark’s practice focuses on reinsurance and insurance litigation and arbitration. She has represented cedents, reinsurance companies and liquidators in a wide variety of matters in federal and state court and before arbitration panels. These disputes have involved areas such as misrepresentations in connection with the placement of reinsurance and retrocessional agreements; the protection afforded under reinsurance and retrocessional agreements; the accumulation of loss under both property and casualty reinsurance contracts; standards of conduct applicable to ceding companies in dealing with reinsurers; disputes with program managers; and broker negligence. Ms. Clark received her J.D. from Fordham University School of Law and her B.A. from the University of Wisconsin.
Marcos D. Sasso, (Special Counsel – Financial Services Litigation, Los Angeles) Mr. Sasso concentrates in complex commercial litigation, with a particular emphasis on representing financial institutions and financial services companies, including national banks and credit card issuers in individual and class actions. In particular, he has experience with state and federal laws relating to credit cards, credit reporting, fair debt collection and other consumer protection statutes. Mr. Sasso received his J.D. from UCLA School of Law and his B.A. from Loyola Marymount University.
Jason Sobel, (Special Counsel – Intellectual Property, New York) Mr. Sobel specializes in intellectual property law. He has litigated claims of patent, copyright and trademark infringement, misappropriation of trade secrets, breach of contract and other business torts through trial and appeal in federal and state courts. Mr. Sobel also advises clients on intellectual property and technology issues related to transactions and performing intellectual property due diligence and counsels clients concerning their intellectual property portfolios. Mr. Sobel received his J.D. from Fordham University School of Law and his B.S.E. from the University of Pennsylvania.
Justin R. Steinmark, (Special Counsel – Real Estate, Miami) Mr. Steinmark focuses his practice on real estate transactions and financial institution matters, representing lenders, borrowers and developers in commercial real estate financing for a variety of property types including retail, office, mixed-use, multi-family residential, hotels and medical office buildings. He also has experience with loan restructuring and workout/foreclosure alternatives for distressed loans. Representative clients include national banks, investment banks and securitization lenders. Mr. Steinmark received his J.D. degree from Cornell Law School and his B.B.A., cum laude, from the University of Miami.
