Thursday Thoughts

Hey everyone! (laughing right now – see #3 below). Thursdays are my favorite day in Peace Love & Oats world because Thursday Thoughts is my giant brain dump and opportunity to share all random thoughts of mine with you all. I start putting together my Thursday Thoughts posts as early as Thursday afternoons the week before. I love it. However, honestly, some weeks I do it that morning! Depends on how active my brain is…

1. Kelsey (my favorite person in the whole world) gave me a little jar of Coconut Butter this weekend after I told her I’d never tried it. I am in love. And now I have a collection of wonderful gifts from Kelsey.

2. Um WHAT!? It was 59 degrees at 6:15 am on Tuesday here in Chicago. Talk about unseasonably warm! So weird. But don’t you worry, today the high is around 19 with wind chills tonight as low as –15. All is right in the world again.

3. I have something that I struggle with every single day. Greetings on my blog post. Seriously. I usually start off with “hey everyone” or “Happy _____ (whatever-day)” but I’m starting to feel like a broken record. #firstworldproblems I’m thinking for the next week I’ll start with salutations from various languages and countries. Salut!

4. You all know I love me some Kind Bars, but this was first time I’d gotten a chance to try Peanut Butter & Strawberry, and it did not disappoint. SO GOOD!

5. Today is the LAST DAY that you can use the code GIRLTIME to get 20% any Pretty Muddy race! So sign up and get Muddy!

6. Yesterday I decided to try out a new lunch place near my school when I needed to grab a quick bite, Sataza. The concept is basically an Indian version of Chipotle, kind of like I Dream of Falafel, which is an AMAZING Mediterranean version.

I have to say, however, that I wasn’t a fan. I don’t like giving bad reviews, but I wouldn’t go back and wouldn’t suggest anyone else go either. I ordered the Chicken Tikka salad with Raita sauce and asked for carrots and tomatoes on top. They were a little… sparse with the toppings and it just didn’t taste great overall.

When I saw how little my salad was going to be I made a quick decision at the check out and ordered the masala potatoes (I was huuuuungry). I assumed they’d be like home fries but they were just french fries. Not bad, just a little greasy. The mango sauce on the side was good though.

Disappointing… At least now I know.

7. I have spelled “disappoint/disappointing” wrong several times in just this post. I keep trying to write “dissapoint”… shameful.

8. Today is the LAST DAY you can fill out my Peace Love & Oats survey, so get to it! I am LOVING reading all the results and will share them with you tomorrow. Well, not totally loving since apparently so many of you aren’t a fan of book reviews… :

9. I think I’ve mentioned this before, but I get an email every morning now called The Skimm and it basically gives you the low-down on all relevant news that day. So basically if you’re like me and don’t have a TV and don’t read about the news, then you don’t feel like an idiot when head into work/school and have no idea what’s going on…

What was a restaurant that you’ve been disappointed with recently? (spelled it wrong again…)

Have you ever tried coconut butter? Are you a fan? What’s your favorite nut butter?
