The law firm of Howse Williams Bowers has announced via a press release that it has added new partner Chia Ching Tan to its corporate practice. Tan is experienced with commercial and corporate issues involving corporate restructurings, IPOs, general corporate advisory, acquisition and disposal and regulatory compliance.
Tan has taken part in multiple initial public offerings and listings on the Main Board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. She took part in the first listing by a mineral company under Chapter 18 of the Hong Kong Listing Rules back in 2008. She recently represented a media, telecommunications information and communications provider in Hong Kong. She represented the firm in its spin-off and separate listing of the telecommunications business of the company into a novel structure that had a listed trust and offered shared stapled units. On November 29, 2011, the trust was listed and is the first of its type to be listed in Hong Kong. The 2012 Equity Market Deal of the Year was given to the transaction by Asian Legal Business.
Tan also had a hand in one of the largest corporate mergers and acquisition transactions in the history of Malaysian corporate history. It involved the privatization of the largest independent power plant in Malaysia. Prior to the transaction it was listed on the Main Board of Bursa Malaysia Securities Berhad.
