Melissa King, Miss Delaware Teen USA, resigned her crown this week after a sex scandal arose from a video posting online. The video, which shows a woman resembling her having sex, made its way around the internet, according to Delaware Online.
“The Miss Delaware Teen USA pageant has received a resignation letter from Miss King’s attorney,” pageant spokeswoman Dara Busch said in an e-mail Tuesday.
The video was posted to a porn website and it identified the woman as Miss Delaware Teen USA. The woman in the video looks and sounds just like King, who is from Bethany Beach. King spoke to The News Journal and said she knew of the video, but that she is not the woman featured in it.
“Absolutely not,” she said. “It is not.”
When asked about the claims made by the website, King said, “There are comments saying this; however, it’s not comments that are true.”

When she was asked if the woman was just someone who looked like her, King said, “Um, I’d rather not be talking right now, but yeah.”
The paper asked her about an attorney and she said, “Because you’re going to publish something and I’ll, I’ll give you a call back another day.”
According to officials from the pageant, King’s lawyer is J. Gregory Hannigan.
“A statement will be issued, but not today,” Hannigan said in an email Tuesday evening. “Thank you for your interest in Ms. King’s well-being.”
The runner-up, Hailey Lawler, is replacing King. The video on the site is advertised as “Miss Teen Delaware does porn” and it shows a photo of the woman in the video with a photo of when King was crowned. The girl never says her name in the video but says she turned 18 in March. King’s birthday is in March.
“I thought it would be fun and I needed the money,” the woman says. “So I just decided to do it.”
She is asked about being a “Miss. A Miss Teen?” The interviewer then says, “I’m not going to say the state or anything. … You did beauty pageants?”
“I’ve done them, yes,” she said.
She is asked if she told anyone she was going to make the video and she says, “It’s not a big secret. But I didn’t tell anybody specifically what I was doing.”
After the interview ends, the woman and a man whose face you never see, perform various sexual acts.
King’s Facebook page was no longer public by Tuesday.
