BlackBerry to Release Fourth Quarter Numbers Thursday

BlackBerry is set to announce its first quarterly numbers since the release of its newest line of phones, according to Forbes.

The research team at UBS called and visited some 30 AT&T and Best Buy stores on the East and West coasts. Their report stated that “Several stores had received up to 15 devices and had sold ‘low-mid single digit’ units/day in the first 2 days.”

The equity research team of RBC acknowledged “limited carrier advertising commitments […] and limited enthusiasm among U.S. consumers.”

Analysts are expecting BlackBerry to show revenues ranging from $2.68 billion to $2.77 billion when the numbers are released on Thursday for the fourth quarter.

The team at UBS said the following:

We continue to struggle with the strategic positioning of the company longer-term. Unlike the competition, BBRY, in our opinion, lacks a compelling multi-screen device strategy as well as a content ecosystem and cloud strategy. It remains practically a single product company, as increasingly the outlook of the Playbook remains questionable as well. With limited scale and resources to invest relative to its competition including Samsung, Apple, Microsoft, Amazon, and Huawei, amongst others, the longer term outlook remains challenging for BBRY, in our opinion.

Over the past couple of years, BlackBerry has seen a lot of changes. They include a new CEO and the renaming of the company.
