Justin Bieber took time out of his busy Believer tour through Europe to stop in the Dutch city of Arnhem in the Netherlands this Saturday night. According to TMZ, he spent an hour at the Ann Frank House on Friday, and responded with the most appropriate sensitivity about the young Holocaust victim’s plight:
“Truly inspiring to be able to come here. Anne was a great girl. Hopefully she would have been a belieber.”
Umm…that is to say, hopefully the young sensitive diarist would have been another idiot Justin Bieber fan. Well I don’t know how much more we are to expect from the young egomaniac, but that message left in the museum’s guestbook, which the Anne Frank House reported on their Facebook page, has stirred some controversy, with such sentiments that Bieber is “a little idiot” who is “way too full of himself,” as reported by the Huffington Post.
Another Facebook commentator said, “Glad he went, but the last sentence is VERY self serving. He missed the lessons of Anne totally.” Fortunately, some of the lessons Anne had to teach include an optimistic love for humanity, including her oppressors, let alone egocentric musicians, as her most famous quote is “Despite everything, I believe that people are really good at heart.”
A Bieber source, for their part, told TMZ that Bieber had learned she was into pop culture of her time, so that is why Bieber thought he might “Beliebe” in him.
