Misty Jo Greeno was greedy for the green, according to charges filed against her in Bradford County, Pennsylvania.
Greeno worked for the law firm Brann, Williams, Caldwell and Sheetz in Troy. After conducting a forensic audit of the firm, it was discovered that a large sum of money, more than $20,000, was missing from their books. It was eventually determined that Greeno, who worked for the firms in an unspecified capacity, received a similar sum in cash which was never deposited into the firm’s accounts. Authorities believe that Greeno pocketed the money for herself.
Greeno was arrested on suspicion of theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property. During her arrest, she attempted to escape from the police at Towanda state police headquarters. WBNG Binghamton reports that, while in custody, Greeno made a break for an exit door, but was caught before she could get beyond the exit. She is now being charged with criminal attempt/escape in addition to her original charges, and being held in Bradford County jail on $10,000 bail.
The Daily Review interviewed Vinnie Mignano, whose family owns a pizza parlor near the law firm at which Greeno was a frequent customer. Mignano knew Greeno from high school, and described her as laid back. “This is too bad,†said Mignano. “I hope things get made right.â€
Greeno’s position at the firm and the specific means of how she maneuvered the money into her own pocket remain, so far, unknown. But her attempt to escape suggests guilt, and a thought process that is perhaps muddled.
