A couple that was recently featured on Gordon Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares is in the midst of a social media meltdown. Amy and Samy Bouzaglo, the Phoenix, Arizona, couple that own Amy’s Baking Company, were the first restaurateurs to literally drive the notoriously mean Ramsay off his own show on Friday’s episode, and since it aired, the restaurant’s official Facebook page has posted threats, insults, and arrogant brags seemingly written by the couple and directed to the legions of “haters” on other social media sites.
Ramsay’s Kitchen Nightmares features the celebrity chef traveling to troubled restaurants, where he offers his advice on how they can improve their business. During the episode, Ramsay struggles to work with the Bouzaglos, who are unrepentant about the bad quality of their food and their habit of yelling at customers who complain. Eventually, Ramsay, known as a hothead who can tame any overbearing restaurant employee, walks off his own show for the first time in six seasons.
In the show, Amy is seen adding additional spices to a dish in order to hurt a customer that complained about something, and since the show aired, Amy and Samy are adding heat to their social media postings. One posting calls out the presumed “haters,” that Amy herself mentions within the first minute of her episode of “Kitchen Nightmares.”
“You people are all sh*t. Yelp sh*t, Reddits sh*t. Every sh*t. Come to here, I will f*cking show you all,” reads one Facebook post from this weekend. Another reads, “To all of the Yelpers and Reddits: Bring it on….Come to arizona. you are weaker than my wife and weaker than me. come to my business. say it face to face. man to man. my wife is a jewel in the desert. you are just trash. reddits and yelpers working together to bring us down. pathetic.”
The tirades, written in the same broken-English used by Samy Bouzaglo on the program, descend into all-caps name calling and cursing, as in a post which defends the serving of frozen ravioli to customers. “I AM NOT STUPID ALL OF YOU ARE. YOU JUST DO NOT KNOW GOOD FOOD. IT IS NOT UNCOMMON TO RESELL THINGS WALMART DOES NOT MAKE THEIR ELECTRONICS OR TOYS SO LAY OFF!!!!”
Other comments are unclassifiable, like this one. “I AM WONDER WOMAN. I AM A GREAT CHEF, A GREAT WIFE, AND A GREAT MOM TO MY KIDS. AND WE WILL BE PARENTS TO A HUMAN KID, ONE DAY TO. WE WILL SHOW ALL OF YOU.”
After the restaurant’s postings caught the attention of the internet and made a laughing stock of the couple, the following message was posted on the restaurant’s Facebook wall. “Obviously our Facebook, YELP, Twitter and Website have been hacked. We are working with the local authorities as well as the FBI computer crimes unit to ensure this does not happen again. We did not post those horrible things. Thank You Amy&Samy.”
The Bouzaglos have since closed their restaurant, hired a PR firm, and are throwing what they have described as a “sold out” grand reopening on May 21.
